Lee Freedman trained a double on Geelong’s card on Sunday, both of whom were by the son of Zabeel. The Noughties took out the 1325m maiden in fine style, scorching home to win by an impressive five-and-a-half lengths. His stablemate Reconcentrate followed suit, racing over the same distance and reaping her second win in three starts this season.
Bred by Twin Palms Stud, The Noughties, who is out of This Era (Catrail) was auctioned at the Magic Millions in 2007 for $260,000. His year younger full-brother made $120,000 this year, sold to trainer Danny O’Brien. Three-year-old Reconcentrate was a graduate of the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and fetched $125,000 when offered by Makybe Stud.
On Thursday, three-year-old filly Apollo's Pride made an impressive debut at Canterbury to become Reset's twelfth winner of the campaign.
Reset, whose other Stakes performers include Randwick Listed winner Likefatherlikeson and the impressive British-bred juveniles Saxford and Wave Aside, stands for Darley in Seymour, Victoria for a fee of $33,000 (inc GST).
