Premardal scores with ease in the Jungle Dawn Classic

Four-year-old Shamardal mare becomes the 26th individual Stakes winner for her sire

After being set the mammoth task of the outside barrier in a field of 17, the Todd Harvey-trained four-year-old Shamardal mare Premardal broke from the gates with gusto and speared across the entire field to be leading with ease after the first furlong.

As the field headed for home, jockey Michael Walker allowed the mare more rein and with her ears pricked, she skipped away and maintained her lead to record a length-and-a-half victory over the Redoute’s Choice mare Tranquility.

A Stakes performer as a two and three-year-old, Premardal was bred by Darley Australia and is out of the Rainbow Quest mare Prestigious, a three-quarter sister to the multiple G1 winner and successful sire Arazi, as well as a half-sister to G1 winner Noverre.

With her impressive victory, Premardal became the 10th southern hemisphere bred Stakes winner for the sire, who has been represented worldwide by 26 individual Stakes winners highlighted by G1 victors Lope de Vega, Casamento, Captain Sonador and Faint Perfume.
