Heavenly Impact and King Of Dragons continued a wonderful run for their Irish-bred sire when the three-year-old sons of Darley shuttle stallion Harry Angel fought out the Magic Millions Maiden Plate at the Gold Coast on Saturday, 11 January.
Just a week after another son of Harry Angel, Private Harry, won the $3 million Sunlight 3YO Plate over 1,100m at the Sunshine Coast, Heavenly Impact and King Of Dragons staged a thrilling finish to the opener over 1,100m on Magic Millions race day.
Heavenly Impact grabbed pacemaker King Of Dragons in the final bound to score by a nose, with Brazen Beau gelding Brazen Act 1.5 lengths away in third place.
The winner is trained by Marcus Wilson, was ridden by Sydney jockey Jason Collett and clocked a slick 1 minute 3.98 seconds on a surface rated a Heavy 9.
Bred by Mattrans Vic P/L out of the Australian mare Striking Meteor, Heavenly Impact was offered by Burke Bloodstock at Martindale at the 2022 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale and bought by Fernrigg Farm for $26,000.
The then colt was sold to Wilson Racing for just $30,000 at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale and has now earned $242,700 in prize money.
A dual G1 winner and crowned World Champion Sprinter at three, Harry Angel has sired 176 winners of 378 races worldwide – including 17 Stakes winners of 25 Black-Type races.
The four Harry Angel lots to sell at the nearby Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale this week have averaged $256,250, and the young stallion still has four colts and two fillies to go under the hammer.

"We don't have the big cheque books like the big blokes, we chip away. I think he cost about $30,000 two years ago, it's great - this is what it's all about."
