Kosciuszko still on top in Singapore

Queen Elizabeth II Cup the 12th Stakes victory for son of Kermadec

Remarkable galloper Lim’s Kosciuszko again showed his class and incredible versatility when the son of Kermadec won the Listed Queen Elizabeth II Cup over 1,800m at Kranji on Saturday, 7 September.

Undoubtedly the best horse to ever race in Singapore, Lim’s Kosciuszko notched his 12th Stakes-race victory and the 22nd win of his 29-start career.

Parked just behind the leaders by jockey Marc Lerner, the seven-year-old squeezed between runners at the top of the home straight and drew clear to beat Raising Sixty-One by a length with his stablemate Lim’s Saltoro a half-length away win third.

A winner from 1,200m to 2,000m – and crowned the Champion Sprinter, Miler and Stayer in Singapore in 2023 – Lim’s Kosciuszko stopped the clock on a sizzling 1 minute 47.08 seconds for the 1,800m journey.

Out of the New Zealand mare Jacquetta and offered by Trelawney Stud at the 2019 Karaka Yearling Sale.

The Dan Meagher-trained gelding has earned S$3,517,468 (A$4,048,026) in prize money.

Kermadec won two G1 races, retired to stud in 2016 and has now sired 101 winners of 283 races across the world.

He is the sire of G1 winners Montefilia (4), Tuvalu, Willowy and Amokura, plus another four Stakes winners of 25 Black-Type events.

Kermadec is again standing this season at Darley’s Northwood Park property in Victoria for a service fee of $16,500, including GST.
