Rosallion, Blue Point’s stunning first-crop son, landed his third G1 when winning the G1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. Held up in customary fashion, he quickened inside the final furlong to catch Henry Longfellow (Dubawi">Dubawi) inside the final furlong to win going away by a neck.

As a juvenile, Rosallion won three of his four starts including G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at ParisLongchamp, and the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot by four lengths, rated by Timeform as the deepest two-year-old race of the season.
After a reappearance second in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, Rosallion went one better at the Curragh when winning the G1 Irish 2,000 Guineas. His career now totals five wins from seven starts.
Owned and bred by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, Rosallion is a son of the New Approach mare Rosaline, who herself is a daughter of Reem Three, one of the best current mares in the studbook. Her ten winners include Queen Anne winner Triple Time and G1-winning filly Ajman Princess, dam of Inisherin (Shamardal), winner of the G2 Sandy Lane Stakes earlier this season and a leading candidate for the Commonwealth Cup.
Blue Point was Champion first-crop sire last season, and became the fastest stallion to reach 50 individual winners. His other star colt is Big Evs, a G1 winner at the Breeders’ Cup, and who was third earlier in the day in the G1 King Charles III Stakes over five furlongs.
