Traffic Warden showed his versatility and collected his first Stakes victory on Saturday, 9 March when the Street Boss colt led all the way to win the G2 Sires’ Produce Stakes over 1,400m at Flemington.
Despite jumping from the outside barrier, jockey Jamie Kah took Traffic Warden across the face of the field to the fence before setting a solid speed.
Kah then pinched a break in the home straight and Traffic Warden avenged his unlucky eighth, beaten just 2.5 lengths, from nearly last in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1,200m) at Caulfield two weeks ago.
The James Cummings-trained Traffic Warden beat Rue De Royale by 1.75 lengths with Bosustow (Blue Point) another length away in third place.
Out of the Exceed And Excel mare Efficiently, who has a weanling full-brother to Traffic Warden and was covered by Blue Point last season, it was Traffic Warden’s second win from five starts.
The victory added another Stakes success to Street Boss’s stud record, with the Darley stallion now the sire of 917 winners of 2672 races worldwide – including 69 individual Stakes winners of 139 Stakes races.
The stallion has four colts and five fillies in the catalogue for the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney on 7-8 April.
