Pedigree notes
Anamoe is clearly the best male racehorse from the successful Street Cry branch of the Mr Prospector sire line.
A NINE-time G1 winner with victories at the highest level in each of the three seasons he raced from two to four years old, he is the best-performed racehorse to retire to stud in recent years.
He showed great early speed as a two-year-old, combining an on-pace racing style with decisive acceleration which are all key common denominators among successful sires.
Anamoe is out of a mare by Australia’s multiple Champion sire and broodmare sire Redoute’s Choice with his next five dams by positive genetic influences: Whiskey Road, Sovereign Edition, Hermes, Summertime and the great Foxbridge. This is a rare long chain with no weak links.
The broodmare sire of a stallion is a key position, some outstanding sires including Northern Dancer have basically failed as broodmare sires of sires, but Redoute’s Choice is off to a flying start as Zoustar is out of a daughter.
G1 Statistics
Anamoe’s sire Street Boss has sired EIGHT individual G1 winners all by different broodmare sires.
Anamoe’s grandsire Street Cry has sired 23 individual G1 winners by 21 different broodmare sires.
Both Street Boss and Street Cry have had good results with Northern Dancer / Danzig / Danehill-line mares and with Seattle Slew-line mares.
Five of Street Boss’s eight individual G1 winners have a return of Mr Prospector in the dam’s ancestry.
Best Nicks
Anamoe’s sire Street Boss and grandsire Street Cry have good nicking statistics with a wide variety of sire lines as reflected in their G1 statistics. They have both shown an affinity for returns of the various Northern Dancer branches, Seattle Slew lines, and Mr Prospector in the first, second or third dam of the mare.
This versatility indicates that Anamoe, who is by a Danehill-line broodmare-sire, should be ideally suited to mares by Australia’s recent non-Danehill-line Champion Sires such as I Am Invincible, Written Tycoon, Encosta de Lago and Lonhro - or their sons.
Inbreeding / Linebreeding options
Anamoe’s pedigree offers several exciting options for inbreeding to the successful sires and mares close up who have already left strong statistical evidence of the breeding patterns that suit them.
Strategy One
Inbreeding to the Blue Hen mare Helen Street, the dam of Anamoe’s grandsire Street Cry. Helen Street is also the second dam of leading sire Shamardal (out of a sister to Street Cry), she is the 3rd dam of undefeated Champion Two-Year-Old Victor Ludorum. Inbreeding to Helen Street has yielded almost 7% Stakes winners to runners including multiple G1 winner Victor Ludorum, multiple G1-placed Lucida and VRC Derby runner-up Southern Moon. Mares by Shamardal or sons such as Lope De Vega seem ideal as they will also create the broad Mr Prospector/Storm Cat cross which is a continuing winner.
Strategy Two
Mares by Written Tycoon will also offer two strong pedigree affinities with Anamoe. Written Tycoon has achieved his best results with a return of Mr Prospector as 9 of his 12 G1 winners have a return of that sire in the mare. That’s an incredibly powerful statistic, it is almost unheard of to find a 75% success rate for a G1 cross and Anamoe offers the reverse cross for owners of Written Tycoon mares. As an added benefit all such matings create close inbreeding to the Blue Hen mare Best In Show who is the 4th dam of Anamoe’s damsire Redoute’s Choice and the 2nd dam of Try My Best who is the sire of Last Tycoon, grandsire of Written Tycoon. The Redoute’s Choice/Last Tycoon Cross has been arguably the best for that great sire with 10 Stakes winners from just 36 runners including three G1 winners.
Strategy Three
The Sir Tristram and Encosta De Lago broad crosses have produced five individual G1 winners with G1 VRC Newmarket Handicap winner The Quarterback being by Street Boss out of an Encosta De Lago mare. Mares by those two sires or their descendants could be suitable options for Anamoe. I Am Invincible is in the very early stages of his broodmare sire career, but already there are five Stakes horses from 24 runners (20.8% SH/R) on the broad I Am Invincible/Street Cry cross including G1 winner Asfoora.
Strategy Four
Mares from the Sadler’s Wells/Galileo sire line such as those by High Chaparral, So You Think, Dundeel, Toronado, Churchill or Frankel, or their sons, or mares carrying any of these stallions, look promising options to succeed with Anamoe.
Summary
Anamoe has a pedigree that should suit most of the major commercial broodmare sire lines available to him. He offers some exciting opportunities to design matings with pedigree patterns that have a proven record of success.
