Brazen Beau gains breakthrough victory with Tassort at Rosehill

Darley’s first season stallion, the former Champion sprinter Brazen Beau, has got his stud career off to a spectacular start with the victory of Tassort at Rosehill on Saturday, 24 November.

Only the fourth Brazen Beau two-year-old to go to the races, the regally-bred Tassort exploded to a 5-1/4 length debut success in the Golden Gift, becoming his sire’s first winner.

Tassort is the fifth foal to race, and fifth to win, from the Exceed And Excel mare Essaouira, the dam of the Australian G1 winners Alizee and Darley stallion Astern.

Ridden by James McDonald, Tassort was positioned behind the leader in a small field and only obtained galloping room at the 200m, at which point he exploded to the lead.

Brazen Beau established himself as the champion sprinter of his generation in Australia, winning twice at G1 and twice at G2. He was also second in the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Brazen Beau stands at Northwood Park in Victoria at a fee of A$38,500 inc GST.
