Songbird soars in G1 Chandelier Stakes

Daughter of Medaglia d’Oro remains undefeated and scores second G1 win

Songbird stamped herself as the top juvenile filly in North America with a commanding victory in the Grade 1 Chandelier Stakes at Santa Anita.

The daughter of Medaglia d’Oro took the lead soon after the start and never looked back, eventually pulling away in the stretch to win by five lengths under a hand ride.

Songbird has now won two straight G1 Stakes, and remains undefeated in three career starts.

Bred in Kentucky by John Antonelli, Songbird was purchased for $400,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling sale by Fox Hill Farm. Songbird is out of Ivanavinalot, who captured the G2 Bonnie Miss and was second in the G2 Davona Dale as a three-year-old.

Medaglia d'Oro is having a tremendous year in 2015 with Songbird, G1 Golden Slipper Vancouver and G1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap winner Mshawish all winning at the elite level. The sire's top runners lifetime include Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and G1-winning turf specialist Marketing Mix

Medaglia d'Oro is standing this season at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST.
