Politician Stakes to The Conglomerate

Lonhro three-year-old records G3 win in South Africa

Stepping up to Stakes class for the first time, Lonhro’s Australian bred, South African raced three-year-old The Conglomerate showed he is a promising colt with a half-length victory in the G3 Politician Stakes over 1800m at Kenilworth on January 10.

Having previously won three of his six starts, including one of the course and distance, the Joey Ramsden-trained runner started the race favourite and didn’t disappoint.

Bred by Dean Fleming’s Tyreel Stud, the Conglomerate is out of Canny Lad’s dual G1 winner Republic Lass who has had five to the races all winners.

The sire of 49 Stakes winners including G1 winners Pierro, Beaded, Mental, Bounding and the Darley stallion Denman and Benfica, Lonhro’s yearlings at the Magic Millions Sale made up to $300,000 and he will be represented by three lots at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in March, while Denman's yearlings sold up to $210,000 and he has eight catalogued for the Inglis Premier.
