Street Story snatches first Graded win

Street Story, a three year-old filly by Street Cry, won the G3 Victory Ride Stakes today at Belmont in her first start in Graded company.  She’s shown talent throughout her career, breaking her maiden as a two year-old in only her second start at Churchill Downs, and then going on to win the both the Dixie Belle Stakes and the Instant Racing Stakes at Oaklawn Park. 

In this 1300m race, her first start in New York, she trailed the pack at the start and didn’t make her move till the turn. Under encouragement from jockey Joel Rosario, she moved outside from her position on the rail and showed an impressive turn of foot  to pass the frontrunners and win by almost two lengths. 

Bred by John C. Oxley, Street Story is out of the Tale Of The Cat mare Perfect Story, who has also produced Graded Stakes-placed Medjool. Perfect Story is out of Stakes winner Turko's Turn, and is a half-sister to Horse Of The Year and Classic winner Point Given.  

Street Cry is the sire of 46 career Group or Graded winners, who include Horse Of the Year Zenyatta, Melbourne Cup winner Shocking and two G1 Caulfield Guineas winners in Whobegotyou and Long John.

Street Cry will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST, while his record-breaking multiple G1-winning Street Boss returns to Northwood Park at a fee of $11,000 inc. GST.
