Record prices for Darley stallions at Inglis Easter yearling sale

Street Cry colt sells for $1.5 million

The first two days of the Inglis Easter yearling sale in Sydney have been record-breaking days for the Darley stallions.

A record price for a Street Cry yearling sold in Australia was achieved when lot 224, a colt out of Star On High consigned by Three Bridges Thoroughbreds, was knocked down to Emirates Park and Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum for $1.5 million. An unraced half-sister to Champion filly Peeping Fawn, Star On High is a granddaughter of star mare Blush With Pride. A new highest-price for a daughter of Street Cry was also set when lot 127, a filly out of Lonhro mare Munhro sold for $1.05 million.

Lonhro himself also had a new highest-price recorded for a yearling filly by him with lot 105, a daughter of Midnight Joy selling for $840,000. Consigned by Turangga Farm, the filly is a granddaughter of G1 Blue Diamond winner Midnight Fever.

Not to be outdone, Lonhro’s son Denman notched his own record price. His previous highest-price for a yearling was $320,000 however he eclipsed that with the Supreme Thoroughbreds-consigned lot 98, a son of Commands mare Many Facets which sold for $380,000.

Australia’s reigning Champion stallion Exceed And Excel had three yearlings over the first two days sell for over $500,000. They included lot 307, a full-brother to Stakes winner Eximius from the draft of Kia-Ora Stud, bought by Hong Kong-based George Moore for $1 million.

The sale concludes tomorrow.
