Easter Gift makes it three-in-a-row

Son of Hard Spun wins Mountainview Handicap at Penn National

Four-year-old Hard Spun colt Easter Gift kept his winning streak intact as he made it three-in-a-row and three wins from four starts this year. As a three year-old, the colt was a Graded stakes winner, taking the G3 Smarty Jones Stakes and running second in the G3 Pegasus Stakes.

In the 1700m contest, he positioned herself well early, raced two wide on the far turn and drew clear to win by two-and-a-quarter lengths.

Racing in the colours of Robert Penta, Easter Gift is a consistent runner, finishing in the top three in nine of his eleven starts to date, highlighted by two Stakes victories.

Bred by Ward Williford in Kentucky, Easter Gift is out of the multiple Stakes winner and multiple G2-placed Angel Gift, who is herself out of a full-sister to the multiple Champion Strawberry Road, a winner of the G1 W.S. Cox Plate and G1 AJC Australian Derby among his many outstanding victories at the elite level. Easter Gift also has a Stakes-placed half-brother in Wings Of An Angel.

The sire of 20 Stakes winners internationally, including G1 winners Zo Impressive and Questing, Hard Spun has been represented in Australia by the Listed winners Royal Haunt, Western Blaze and Crystal Web.

Hard Spun will stand the forthcoming southern hemisphere season at Darley's Victorian farm Northwood Park at a fee of $16,500 (inc. GST).
