Treasured Up golden in Keertana Stakes

Medaglia d'Oro filly wins at Churchill

Four-year-old mare Treasured Up was in top form May 18 at Churchill Downs winning the Keertana Stakes. Graded Stakes-placed over the track at three, Treasured Up became the newest Stakes winner for her sire Medaglia d'Oro.

In the 1700m race on the turf, Treasured Up remained on the inside to save ground. With 600m to go, the filly took off on the outside and came on strong to take the win in the final strides for owner Spendthrift Farm LLC.

Bred by Summer Wind Farm, Treasured Up is out of Melisma, who has also produced G2 San Diego Handicap winner and G1 Dubai World Cup-placed Choctaw Nation and Stakes-placed Mined Over Matter.

The talented Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of 21 Graded/Group winners on all surfaces. They include Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra, G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty, and G1-winning turf mare Marketing Mix. His most recent Graded Stakes winners are 2012 G1 CashCall Futurity winner Violence and 2013 G2 Elkhorn Stakes winner Dark Cove.

Medaglia d'Oro will stand the forthcoming southern hemisphere breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 (inc. GST).
