Aubby K aces G1 Humana Distaff

Street Sense filly wins on Kentucky Derby undercard

Aubby K, from the first crop of Street Sense, asserted herself in the G1 Humana Distaff May 4 and earned her first victory at the highest level. Off to a great 2013, the four-year-old filly was entering after an impressive win in the G2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream March 17.

In the 1400m race at Churchill Downs, Aubby K stalked the pace on the outside. Rounding the turn she took on the lead and cleared away in the straight to secure the G1 win.

A homebred for James C. Spence, Aubby K is out of the G3 winner Lily Capote, who is also the dam of G2-placed horses Flying Pegasus and Mythical Pegasus, and Stakes-placed America’s Storm.

The victory on the Kentucky Derby undercard for Aubby K was appropriate, as her sire Street Sense took the Run for the Roses in 2007. The leading third-crop sire in the United States, Street Sense is off to an incredible year as a sire. In addition to Aubby K, his three-year-old daughter Unlimited Budget is a three-time Graded Stakes winner who placed in the G1 Kentucky Oaks just one day prior. His son Cigar Street also recently impressed in the G3 Skip Away Stakes at Gulfstream.

Street Sense is standing the forthcoming southern hemisphere breeding season at Darley Kelvinside for a fee of $16, 500 (inc. GST).
