Medaglia d'Oro filly wins Stakes debut

Live Oak Plantation's Onepointhreekarats was victorious in her Stakes debut December 22 with a strong win in the Thirty Eight Go Go Stakes at Laurel Park. It was the third win in a row for the filly, who becomes the 36th black-type winner for her sire Medaglia d'Oro

In the one mile dirt race Onepointhreekarats positioned herself in fourth just outside the pace. Halfway through the filly began to travel wide and take on leaders, then cleared away in the stretch to win by three and one-half lengths.

Onepointhreekarats was appropriately a $1.3 million yearling purchase at Keeneland September. She is out of the Stakes-placed mare Beaties For Real, also the dam of G3 winners Friel's For Real and Ryan's For Real and Stakes winner Little Thunder. The Medaglia d'Oro filly was bred by Gilbert G. Campbell.

Medaglia d'Oro has had a tremendous year in 2012 with G1 Rodeo Drive Stakes winner Marketing Mix in addition to G1 CashCall Futurity winner Violence just one week ago. His most noteworthy progeny are Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra and G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty. His resume boasts a remarkable 18 Graded/Group winners, nine of which are G1 winners.

With his first southern hemisphere-bred crop of yearlings heading to the sales in 2013, Medaglia d'Oro will be represented by eight yearlings at the Magic Millions yearling sale including the Amarina Farm (as agent)-consigned lot 187, the first foal from the G2 Wakeful Stakes winner Rocha as well as the Baramul Stud-consigned lot 659, a colt out of the multiple G1 placed Red Ransom mare Kylikwong, already the dam of the Stakes placed Chateau Margaux and the recent Listed Christmas Cup winner Cantonese.
