51st Stakes winner for Commands

Jester’s Girl, a four-year-old mare by Commands, claimed her first Black type success on 1 December, winning the Listed Travel Associates Fillies And Mare Classic at Eagle Farm over 1200m.

Settling behind the leading duo, Jester's Girl came with a determined finish to defeat John O'Shea's four-year-old Strategic mare Bound To Blush by a short-half-head, with Funtantes a further head back in third. Having the first start of her current campaign, Jester's Girlis is likely to back up on 15 December in the Listed Just Now Quality over 1300m before heading to become a broodmare as she is currently carrying a positive test after a recent stallion covering.

Bred by Dean Fleming of Tyreel Stud, Jester’s Girl is out of the Rory’s Jester mare How Funny, a winner of the Listed Tommy Smith Slipper and a runner-up in the G1 Golden Slipper of her juvenile year. The dam of two winners from three runners, How Funny is also the dam of the Stakes placed Encosta de Lago gelding The Comedian, a winner of nine races in both Australia and Singapore.

Known for his utter consistency at producing winners, Commands is having an outstanding season at the top level with three individual G1 winners already. They include the victories of Epaulette in the G1 Golden Rose, Commanding Jewel’s triumph in the G1 Thousand Guineas and Appearance’s performance to defeat some of Australia’s top-class mares in the G1 Myer Classic.

Commands now sits in second position for the number of individual Stakes winners recorded this season, with the son of Danehill currently in fourth on prize money, one position behind fellow Darley stallion Lonhro.

With a total of 53 Individual winners this season Commands will be represented by 15 yearlings at January’s Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast including lot 520, a full-sister to four-year-old mare Appearance.

The sire of 51 Stakes winners including nine G1 winners, Commands is standing the current breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 (inc. GST), while his G1-winning son Skilled stands at Northwood Park in Victoria at a fee of $8,800 (inc. GST).
