Den's Legacy makes his mark in G3 Generous Stakes

Medaglia d'Oro juvenile decisive at Hollywood

Medaglia d'Oro two-year-old Den's Legacy showcased his young talent November 24 with a decisive win in the G3 Generous Stakes at Hollywood. The Medaglia d'Oro colt was entering the G3 Generous Stakes after running second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint Preview Stakes at Santa Anita in early November.

Positioning himself in a striking position in fourth for the one mile turf race, Den's Legacy made a strong move in the stretch to slip along the inside and prove much the best.

Bred by Gaye Swartz, Den's Legacy is out of the mare Sunshine Song who is a half-sister to C. S. Silk, a G1 winner also by Medaglia d'Oro, as well as G3 winner Remember Sheikh and Stakes winner Memory Tap.

Den's Legacy becomes the 17th Graded Stakes winner for Medaglia d'Oro, keeping company with the likes of Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra and G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty. He has sired a total of eight G1 winners to date, among them G1 Rodeo Drive Stakes winner Marketing Mix on the turf this year.

With his first southern hemisphere-bred crop of yearlings heading to the sales in 2013, Medaglia d'Oro will be represented by eight yearlings at the Magic Millions yearling sale including the Amarina Farm (as agent)-consigned lot 187, the first foal from the G2 Wakeful Stakes winner Rocha as well as the Baramul Stud-consigned lot 659, a colt out of the multiple G1 placed Red Ransom mare Kylikwong, already the dam of the Stakes placed Chateau Margaux and the up and coming stayer Cantonese.

Medaglia d'Oro stands at Darley Kelvinside for a fee of $77,000 (Inc GST)
