Ninth G1 winner for Commands

Appearance defeats a class field of mares to take out the G1 Myer Classic at Flemington

After settling towards the rear of the field from the outside barrier, four-year-old Commands mare Appearance became the ninth G1 winner for her sire, recording a sensational victory in the G1 Myer Classic over 1600m at Flemington on 3 November.

A winner of the G3 Keith Nolan Classic during her three-year-old season, the Sheikh Mohammed-owned mare resumed from a spell with an excellent effort, finishing third in the G2 The Shorts over 1200m at Randwick.

Sent to Melbourne by her trainer Guy Walter to chase further Black type, Appearance has now won on four occassions from nine starts and is also two-for-two at the distance of the Myer Classic.

Bred by Darley, Appearance is out of the Grand Lodge mare Disguise, making her a full-sister to the Stakes winner Mascareri. Disguise has a two-year-old Strategic filly, a yearling full-sister to Appearance and Mascareri and is due to foal to Domesday any time now.

Standing the current season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 (inc. GST), Commands has been enjoying a stellar season, siring seven Stakes winners highlighted by three individual G1 winners; Epaulette, Commanding Jewel and Appearance. The sire of 50 Stakes winners in total, Commands is currently sitting in second position on the Australian Sires’ Table.
