New winner for leading European freshman New Approach

Heronchelles wins in France for Gérard Augustin-Normand

New Approach, the leading first-season sire in Europe, recorded his ninth individual winner with the victory of Heronchelles over 1600m at Bordeaux Le Bouscat in France on Sunday.

Bred in Ireland by Corduff Sud from the Kendor mare Centifolia, Heronchelles was bought by Sylvain Vidal for €40,000 to race for prominent French owner Gérard Augustin-Normand. She made her debut over the same course and distance at the end of September when finishing in the runner-up slot but went one better on Sunday to win by a length and a half.

New Approach, who stands at Northwood Park, Victoria, for a fee of $33,000 (inc. GST), is the sire of the unbeaten G1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Dawn Approach, as well as Listed Chesham Stakes winner Tha’Ir and G3 Albany Stakes winner Newfangled.
