Valid returns to winning ways in Harlan’s Holiday Stakes

Son of Medaglia d’Oro earns fourth Stakes victory of the year

Valid put away longtime leader Mr. Jordan at the top of the stretch and withstood the late challenge of Madefromlucky to win the 1700m Harlan’s Holiday Stakes at Gulfstream Park December 12.

It was the fourth stakes victory of the year for the son of Medaglia d’Oro, who has finished in the money in nine of twelve starts in 2015.

Bred by Edward P. Evans, Valid was a $500,000 Keeneland September yearling.  He is out of the stakes-winning mare, Grand Prayer, and is a half-brother to G1 winner Malibu Prayer.

Medaglia d’Oro is having a tremendous year in 2015. In addition to Valid, Medaglia d’Oro is the sire of G1 Golden Slipper winner Vancouver, G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Songbird, G1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap winner Mshawish, G2 winners Gold Medal Dancer, Sentiero Italia, and Mrs McDougal, and recent G3 Tropical Turf Handicap winner, Lochte. He is also the sire of highly-touted two-year-old Astern, an impressive debut winner at Randwick earlier this month.

Medaglia d'Oro is standing at Kelvinside for a fee of $110,000 inc. GST.
