Treasured Up finds gold in the Listed Robert G. Dick Memorial

One of three weekend Stakes winners for her sire

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite in the Robert G. Dick Memorial Stakes, Medaglia d'Oro mare Treasured Up posted a game victory in the Delaware Park event. The four-year-old most recently scored in the Keertana Stakes at Churchill Downs on May 18 for owner Spendthrift Farm.

In the 2200m race, Treasured Up was under a strong hold in third. Positioned on the outside, the mare edged closer around the final turn and kicked on with a game finish in the straight to take the win.

The daughter of Medaglia d'Oro is out of Melisma, who has also produced G2 San Diego Handicap winner and G1 Dubai World Cup-placed Choctaw Nation, as well as Stakes-placed Mined Over Matter. She was bred in Kentucky by Summer Wind Farm.

Treasured Up is the second Stakes winner on the day for Medaglia d'Oro, as Dark Cove impressed in the G3 Stars and Stripes Stakes at Arlington Park to win his third Graded Stakes in a row. Treasured Up is one of 44 Stakes winners for her sire, whose recent representatives include dual G1 winner Marketing Mix, G1 CashCall Futurity winner Violence, and G2 Fleur De Lis Handicap victress Funny Proposition. He is best known for Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra and G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty.

Medaglia d'Oro will stand the forthcoming southern hemisphere season at a fee of $55,000 (inc. GST). With his first southern hemisphere-bred crop of yearlings set to turn two at the end of this month, a handful have already been named; Fairies, a filly out of the G1 winner Rinky Dink; Plaque, a filly out of the dual G1 winner Zacheline; Dhahab, a filly out of the triple G1 winner Shamekha as well as Shaumari, a filly out of the G1 winner Preserve, already the dam of G3-winning colt Safegaurd as well as a half-sister to Darley's stallion Denman.
