Street Cry strong again at Keeneland September

Spotlight on day two shines on Darley sires

It was another excellent session for yearlings by Darley stallion Street Cry on day two of Keeneland’s September Yearling Sale, including one classy individual, consigned by Mill Ridge Sales, agent, which brought the second highest price of the night at US$750,000.

Cataloged as hip number 147, the colt caught the attention of many as he is out of the multiple Graded winner Balance, she a half-sister to Street Cry’s Horse of the Year Zenyatta. When the bidding topped out it was John McCormack who signed the ticket for the handsome yearling colt.

Less than one half hour later, another colt by Street Cry (pictured) received a final bid of US$550,000, and was purchased by Shadwell Estate Company.  Consigned by Lane’s End Farm, he is a half-brother to three Stakes winners, including Graded winners El Crespo and ReyDe Cafe.

Champion Bernardini again flexed his commercial muscles with one of his daughters bringing half a million dollars. The filly is out of a half-sister to English G2 winner Distinction as well as Stakes winner and multiple Graded-placed Ivy Creek. Consigned by Woods Edge Farm, agent, she was purchased by Stonestreet Stables and George Bolton.

Just a few minutes later, another son of Bernardini was in the spotlight as hip number 198 brought a final bid of US$420,000. Consigned by Gainesway Farm, agent, this yearling was also purchased by Fox Hill Farm/Tom McGreevy, agent.
