Paximadia does it again

Back-to-back Group wins for impeccably bred son of Commands

Commands colt Paximadia made it back-to-back Group victories with a tough win in the G2 Sandown Guineas over 1600m at Caulfield, November 16.

A last-start winner of the G3 Carbine Club Stakes at Flemington, Paximadia was sent out favourite in the Sandown Guineas . After sitting second in the early stages, he had to work hard a long way from home after the leader pinched a break at the 600m mark, eventually securing the lead in the final 50m and recording a game victory.

A homebred for Darley, Paximadia is the first living foal of imported Fantastic Light mare Latona, a winner in France over 2600m. Latona is a granddaughter of Helen Street, the dam of G1 Dubai World Cup winner and Darley stallion Street Cry. Helen Street is also the granddam of another Darley stallion in four-time G1 winner Shamardal.

The sire of 61 career Stakes winners, no stallion has more Stakes winners or Stakes wins than Commands in Australia this season. He has been represented by seven individual Stakes winners of nine Stakes races.

Commands will be represented by 12 yearlings at the Magic Millions yearling sale on the Gold Coast in January and their pedigrees can be viewed by clicking here.
