Carnegie, who just last Saturday sired his fifth individual G1 winner when Vision and Power took the George Ryder Stakes, took his number of individual Black type winners to 14 today when his three-year-old son Orca landed the Listed Carbine Club Stakes at Randwick.
The Guy Walter-trained colt provided connections with a slight scare when missing the start by a length but quickly recovered and flashed home to edge out stablemate The Astronomer and record his first victory. Already G2-placed, Orca (who was bred by Motto Farm Stud) will aim to add further Black type to his CV next week in the G3 Frank Packer Plate.
Also at Randwick, Street Cry’s son Predatory Pricer took third in the main event of the day, the AJC Australian Derby, whilst Dorf Command (Commands) and Serenissima (Lonhro) finished second and third respectively in the Emirates Carbine Club Stakes.
Two days later at the same track, Lonhro's two-year-old son Euphemism gained his second consecutive Stakes place when second in the Listed Fernhill Handicap.
