Moviesta has the looks

Hard Spun 3yo claims the G2 King George at Goodwood

After the sparkling performance of Hard Spun’s Moviesta in the G2 King George Stakes at Goodwood on August 2, trainer Bryan Smart stated, “We always knew he’s good, he’s just never settled before. Today, we had it off him. His speed is amazing and he is only three years old. He really could be a superstar.”

During the 1000m race, Jockey Pual Mulrennan was content to let Moviesta allow others in the race to handle the early going but then Moviesta kicked away late while winning by one-and-one-half lengths.

Moviesta was bred in Kentucky by John Gunther and is out of a half-sister to G1 winner Miss Houdini who is the dam of G2 Arkansas Derby winner Papa Clem. Moviesta’s second dam is multiple G1 winner Magical Garden.

Hard Spun’s 22 other Stakes winners include Eclipse Champion Questing, G1 winner Zo Impressive and Australian Stakes winners Royal Haunt, Crystal Web and Western Blaze. He is also the sire of rising stars Text'n Hurley and Late Charge, both recent metropolitan winners in Melbourne.

Hard Spun will stand the coming breeding season at Northwood Park at a fee of $16,500 inc. GST.
