Micromanage takes control in Long Branch Stakes

Medaglia d'Oro sires his 44th Stakes winner

Three-year-old Medaglia d'Oro colt Micromanage stole the show in the Listed Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth, United States on July 7.

In behind horses in the 1700m contest, Micromanage was sent to the far outside rounding the final turn and raced away to take the race by a five length margin.

A debut Maiden Special Weight winner at Saratoga in 2012, Micromanage was most recently second in the Easy Goer Stakes at Belmont.

Bred by Fiona Craig & Dermot Cantillon, the colt is out of multiple Stakes winner Catnip, who is a half-sister to Champion Hold That Tiger and Classic winner Editor's Note. A strong family, the mare has also produced multiple Graded Stakes winner Indescribable and Stakes winner Elaflaak.

With his first southern hemisphere-bred crop of yearlings set to turn two in the coming months, a handful have already been named; Fairies, a filly out of the G1 winner Rinky Dink; Plaque, a filly out of the dual G1 winner Zacheline; Dhahab, a filly out of the triple G1 winner Shamekha as well as Shaumari, a filly out of the G1 winner Preserve, already the dam of G3-winning colt Safegaurd as well as a half-sister to Darley's stallion Denman.

Standing the forthcoming breeding season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 (inc. GST), Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of 23 Graded or Group winners, on all surfaces. Among them are Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra and G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty. In 2013 he has been represented by G1 winner and turf star Marketing Mix, G2 Fleur De Lis Handicap victress Funny Proposition, and dual Graded Stakes winner Dark Cove, among numerous others.
