Tiz Invincible again proved superior and secured a nomination to emerging young Darley shuttle stallion Ghaiyyath when an easy winner of the G2 Darley Tea Rose Stakes over 1,400m at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 16 September.
Winner of the G2 Darley Furious Stakes (1,200m) at the same track two weeks earlier, Tiz Invincible travelled third on the rails for apprentice Zac Lloyd before gaining a split and racing clear in the home straight to beat Kimochi by 1.5 lengths. Tropical Squall held on to take third, three-quarters of a length further back.
The Tea Rose was the third leg of the prestigious Darley Princess Series at set weights for three-year-olds fillies.
The daughter of I Am Invincible was bred by Phoenix Thoroughbreds and offered by Segenhoe last year’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
Ciaron Maher Racing, Eric Lucas and Astute Bloodstock paid $550,000 for the filly, who now looks to hold a mortgage on the final leg of the series - the G1 Flight Stakes (1,600m) - at Randwick on 30 September.
“She’s running better every time she goes to the races,” co-trainer Ciaron Maher said.
“She’s relaxing a little bit better. Zac a beautiful ride and she had an even more explosive turn of foot today.
“She couldn’t be any more exciting, really.”
Tiz Invincible, who clocked a slick 1minute 22.82seconds for the 1,400m, has now won three times and been placed once from her five career starts for prize money and bonuses totalling $673,000.
“She was ultra-impressive today. She’s done that easily,” Lloyd said.
“It was a bit messy early, a bit of scrimmaging, but she handed herself very well and that accounted for that electric turn of foot that got me out of trouble.
“I felt she conducted herself super and that gives me a lot of confidence stepping up to the Flight Stakes now.”
One leg of the four-leg Darley Princess Series remains:
19 August 2023 | G2 Darley Silver Shadow Stakes - won by Autumn Ballet and bred by Arrowfield, who received a nomination to PAULELE.
2 September 2023 | G2 Darley Furious Stakes - won by Tiz Invincible and bred by Phoenix Thoroughbred (11) Pty, who received a nomination to VICTOR LUDORUM.
