Graceful Anna storms to victory in the $1 million Magic Millions Trophy

Daughter of Canny Lad notches her fifth straight win in style at the Gold Coast.

Canny Lad’s talented three-year-old daughter Graceful Anna recorded her biggest victory to date on 9 January with a courageous win in the $1 million Magic Millions Trophy on the Gold Coast.

Breaking smartly, the David Pfieffer-trained filly took the lead at the top of the straight and digging in deep, held off her challengers to win the 1400m contest by a long neck. Tallow (Street Cry) finished strongly to provide the Darley stallions with the quinella.

Graceful Anna was runner-up on her debut on heavy ground last July and has gone from strength to strength ever since. Her last win was in the G3 Vo Rogue Stakes on Boxing Day, where she provided her young trainer with his first ever Black type winner.

She will now go for a well-deserved break before her connections decide where she will head next.

Bred by Woodlands Stud, Graceful Anna is the first winner out of the Grand Lodge mare Lamellar, a half-sister to Black type winner Catriona and from the family of G1 winner Star Watch.
