Glows shines brightly at Moonee Valley

Having her second attempt at Stakes level after a last start third, the Peter Snowden-trained Canny Lad filly Glows produced a sustained burst of speed to take out the Listed Typhoon Tracy Stakes over 1200m at Moonee Valley on February 24.

Jumping from a wide gate, jockey Kerrin McEvoy came across the field to sit outside the leader and as the field rounded the home turn, Glows produced a strong effort to hold off the late charge of the Bart Cummings-trained Empress Rock.

Having recorded three wins from six starts, Glows is out of the Quest For Fame mare Lustre and is a home-bred for Darley. From the family of Stakes winners Falaise and Pearly Kings, Lustre has a yearling filly by Ad Valorem which was sold through the Magic Millions yearling sale in January this year.

The sire of 51 Stakes winners including G1 performers He’s No Pie Eater, Ancient Song, Dodge, Republic Lass and Calveen, Canny Lad's family continues to be in the news of late through the deeds of his close relation, the World Champion three-year-old sprinting Elusive Quality colt Sepoy.

Canny Lad will be represented by two colts at the forthcoming Inglis Premier yearling sale which is set to commence on February 27.
