Funny Proposition demolishes opposition

Funny Proposition became the 23rd Group winner for her sire Medaglia d'Oro with a dominant all-the-way win in the G2 Fleur de Lis Handicap at Churchill Downs, June 15.

After jumping brilliantly in the 1800m race, Funny Proposition controlled the race and when she kicked clear turning for home the daughter of Medaglia d’Oro quickly put the race beyond doubt.

On the line, Funny Proposition was five lengths clear of last year’s winner and raging hot favourite Royal Delta.

Bred by Russell L. Reineman Stables, Funny Proposition is out of Stakes-winning Distorted Humor mare Humorous Miss. The win was her fourth victory in just nine starts and her first Black type success.

Medaglia d'Oro has now produced 23 Graded/Group winners are on all surfaces including renowned Horse Of The Year Rachel Alexandra and G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty. He has recently been represented by G1-winning turf mare Marketing Mix and G1 Cash Call Futurity victor Violence.

Medaglia d'Oro was the leading first-season sire at the Inglis Easter yearling sale and will stand the coming breeding season at Kelvinside at a fee of $55,000 inc. GST.
