Street Boss two-year-olds Tempted and Tentyris stamped their G1 Golden Slipper claims when they scored powerful victories in vital lead-up races at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 8 March.
Tempted, out of proven broodmare Calliope, came from wide and well back in the field to win the G2 Reisling Stakes for fillies over 1,200m for Godolphin Australia head trainer James Cummings and champion jockey James McDonald.
Forty minutes later, Victorian colt Tentryis (Deity) stormed home for Nash Rawiller from second-last to capture the G2 Darley Todman Stakes over 1,200m.
Tempted (seventh) and Tentyris (second) had raced without luck in the G1 Blue Diamond Stakes 1,200m at Caulfield at their previous starts, but made amends in emphatic fashion.
In beating Marhoona and Inkaruna in the fast time of 1 minute 8.49 seconds, Tempted won her second race from four starts and her first at Stakes level.
Her dam is also the mother of four-time Stakes winner Kallos and the filly has a yearling half-brother (Zambales) by Pinatubo.
Tentyris ran a little slower (1:09.06), but he was drawing away from Wodeton to win by three-quarters of a length with Nepotism a neck away third.
Co-trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman at Mornington, Tentyris – who has a yearling half-sister (Parcae) by Blue Point– collected his second Black-Type victory in four race starts after dead-heating in the Listed Talindert Stakes 1,100m at Flemington last month.
Despite his rising years, Street Boss remains fertile and continues to sire winners of feature races all over the world.
Another Wil (out of Arohanui) became Street Boss’s 10th G1 winner in the C.F. Orr Stakes 1,400m at Caulfield last month following Listed wins by Accomplished Girl (Dazzle) in New Orleans and Bodock (Floating Island) in Panama.
The sire of former champion Australian galloper Anamoe (nine G1 victories) now has 993 winners of 2,980 races worldwide, including 79 individual Stakes-race winners of 158 Black-Type events.
The US-bred stallion stood at Darley’s Northwood Park property in Victoria last season for a service fee of $66,000, GST inclusive.
