Exceed And Excel hits century of Group winners

Yet another milestone for the Champion sire

Exceed And Excel continued to cast his massive shadow over the world thoroughbred breeding industry when Mischief Magic won the G3 Sirenia Stakes over 1,200m at Kempton Park in England on Saturday, 3 September - giving his sire 100 individual Group race winners worldwide.

Just a few weeks after becoming the first Australian stallion and only the sixth in history - joining his father Danehill, Galileo, Sadler’s Wells, Dubawi and More Than Ready - to sire 200 individual Stakes winners.

Exceed And Excel passed another imposing milestone and further strengthened his reputation as one of the greatest sires of the modern era.

He now has 16 individual G1 winners, 29 winners at G2 level and 55 winners at G3.

A dual G1 winner during his racetrack career, which yielded six wins in Stakes company, Exceed And Excel retired to stud in 2004 after being crowned Champion Sprinter in Australia.

A three-time champion stallion in Hong Kong, Exceed And Excel has now sired 1686 winners of 5614 races for prize money totalling $242,550,875.

Exceptional gallopers Bivouac, Mr Stunning, Overreach, Microphone, Guelph and Earthquake are a few of Exceed And Excel’s winners at racing’s highest level.

The world’s most prolific sire of two-year-olds, Exceed And Excel has recorded 552 winners of 763 races.

He’s had 82 individual Stakes winners and 43 Group winners as juveniles.

Overreach won the G1 Golden Slipper in Sydney and was crowned Australia’s Champion Two-Year-Old filly in 2012-13, while Sidestep was named Champion Two-Year-Old colt.

Earthquake was the top two-year-old in Australia in 2013-14, winning the G1 Blue Diamond at Caulfield five years after Reward For Effort became Exceed And Excel’s first winner of the feature Victorian race for two-year-olds.

Le Chef in 2015, gave Exceed And Excel his first Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner in Queensland.

Exceed And Excel’s 2074 three-year-olds have won 1600 races worldwide and his 1542 four-year-old runners have a combined 3251 race wins.

As a sire of sires, emerging young stallions Bivouac and Microphone are just two of 18 entires by Exceed And Excel serving at stud this Southern Hemisphere breeding season.

Microphone was Champion Two-Year-Old in Australia in the 2018-19 season. Four of his five wins were in Black-Type races, including the G1 Sires’ Produce Stakes (1,400m) and he was also placed five times in his 11 starts for almost $2 million in prize money.

Bivouac was crowned World Champion Sprinter in 2019-20. He was a three-time G1 winner who won seven Stakes races and amassed nearly $5.7 million in prize money from seven wins and eight placings from 22 starts.
