Four-year-old Domesday gelding Domesky has been racing consistently at the highest level this preparation and he showed his real form with a decisive victory over last start G3 winner Rothera in the Listed Ballarat Cup on November 20, coming with a real turn of foot to run down the top-weight inside the final 100m to score going away by three-quarters of a length with Cape Cross’s daughter Sean Baile Mor close up in third.
“He’s better with his races spaced so after the Caulfield Cup we thought we’d target this race.” trainer Mick Kent said. “He’s an interesting horse, he’s got ability, he always gets back and looks unlucky but I am very pleased to have won this race. He's always shown the promise to do this and I think he'll make a horse. He'll be a better horse next year, he'll go out now and come back and maybe have a go at the Warrnambool Cup and those sort of races.”
From the first-crop of G2 Silver Slipper Stakes winner Domesday, Domesky is one of five Stakes winners for the son of Red Ransom along with G1 winners Pressday and this season’s G1 Spring Champion Stakes winner Doctor Doom, G3 winner Divorces and the Listed winner Backgammon.
Winner of the G2 Alister Clark Stakes at three, Domesky has now won three races and earned $373,678.
Bred in Victoria by Mr E Campbell, who also races the four-year-old in partnership, and is out of the Masterclass mare Miss Aryan, a half-sister to G1 winner Wong. A winner of four races from nine starts, Miss Aryan has a 2011 colt by Domesday to race for her.
Domesday stands for $22,000 (inc GST) at Darley Northwood Park in Victoria where he has proved very popular with breeders, covering 163 mares in 2010.
