Currently the leading sire of Stakes winners on the General Australian sire table, Commands was represented by lot 460, the second foal of the Zabeel mare Regard.
Knocked down to the Victorian-based syndicator Brad Spicer for $205,000, the filly comes from a very international family and should prove an easy horse to syndicate.
Trainer Peter Moody knows all too well about the progeny of Exceed And Excel, training his G1-winning son Reward For Effort, and went to $190,000 on day three to secure the Widden Stud-consigned lot 404.
The first foal from the G3-winning Thunder Gulch mare Pasikatera, this colt comes from the family of the dual G1 winner Tempest Morn. An interesting point is that Reward For Effort was also purchased for $190,000.
After purchasing a Lonhro colt on day two of the sale for $170,000, Denise Martin's Star Thoroughbreds was back in the fray, purchasing lot 489, the black or brown Lonhro filly out of Salina Cruz for $165,000. The last Lonhro lot through the ring on day three was also knocked down for $165,000 - this time to Proven Thoroughbreds. Offered by Torryburn Stud, the colt is out of the Stakes performed Danehill mare Spire.
Bernardini kept up his impressive start to the sale with the Robyn Wise-consigned lot 436 being knocked down for $140,000. Purchased by Peter Ford, the colt is out of the G3 winner Queen Isolt from the family of multiple G1 winner Theseo.
Not to be out done by fellow first-season sire Bernardini, Street Cry's history-making son Street Sense produced lot 541, the third foal of the Stakes winner Sojustrememberthis. Purchased by Randwick trainer Grahame Begg for $145,000, this colt is the joint highest priced yearling sold so far for his sire.
The sale is set to continue on Saturday.
