Classy Lady Edith proves her worth in the Floral Park Stakes

Daughter of Street Boss never threatened on way to earning her third Stakes victory

Lady Edith justified being sent off as the favorite in the field five with a facile, three-length victory in the six-furlong Floral Park Stakes at Belmont at the Big A on Sunday, 16 October.

The four-year-old daughter of Street Boss has won two Stakes so far this year and improved her 2022 record to two wins and a third-place finish in five starts.

Lady Edith broke well and tracked the pace from third while saving ground along the inside rail. The bright chestnut came under some coaxing from jockey Joel Rosario heading into the far turn as she swung out into the two path and moved to challenge Can’t Buy Love for the lead. Lady Edith and Can't Buy Love matched strides briefly, but Lady Edith soon put her away and began to edge clear, eventually drawing off to win by three lengths.

Lady Edith was bred in Kentucky by the late J. David Richardson and Sandra New. She is out of the mare Lady Grantham, a Stakes-winning daughter of Yankee Gentleman.

Street Boss is the sire of 61 Stakes winners worldwide, including Australian Champion and six-time G1 winner, Anamoe.
