Improving juvenile Beiwacht continued the remarkable debut season for young Darley stallion Bivouac when he scored a devastating win in the G2 Silver Slipper over 1,100m at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday, 22 February.
Having his third race start, Beiwacht crossed from the gates to sit behind the leader before skipping clear at the top of the home straight under jockey Adam Hyeronimus.
The James Cummings-trained Beiwacht hit the line full of running to beat West Of Swindon by 2.25 lengths, with Wodeton a short-neck away in third place.
The winner, who stopped the clock on 1 minute 4.27 seconds – with a final 600m split in 33.97 – broke his maiden with his first victory at Black-Type level.
Out of the Street Cry mare Metastasio, who is also the dam of Stakes winner Gravina, Beiwacht was Biviouac’s fourth winner from only 11 two-year-olds to race this season.
Bivouac, a former joint champion Australian three-year-old male sprinter in 2019-20 and co-champion sprinter worldwide in 2020, is a son of the legendary Exceed And Excel and a grandson of the iconic Danehill. To date, he has had 14 runners, including two G2 winners and two impressive city winners.
He has four colts and seven fillies in the catalogue for the 2025 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale at Oaklands in Melbourne from 2-4 March.
