Bay Of Plenty wires Alydar Stakes

11th winner for Medaglia d'Oro at Saratoga meet

The Saratoga meet continues to be a sensational one for Medaglia d'Oro, as the sire was represented by his 11th winner August 9 when Bay Of Plenty dominated the Alydar Stakes.

In the 1800m race Bay Of Plenty was sent along to take the early lead under a quick pace. The colt had a four-length advantage turning for home, and had no competition down the lane as the son of Medaglia d'Oro cruised to a sharp win.

Four-year-old Bay Of Plenty is a half-brother to G1 Champagne Stakes-placed Fortify, and is out of the AP Indy mare Kotuku, a daughter of Champion and G1 winner Flagbird. Bay Of Plenty placed in the G3 Discovery Handicap in 2014.

Medaglia d'Oro is the sire of 18 Stakes winners in 2015 highlighted by undefeated G1 Golden Slipper winner Vancouver who resumes in the G3 San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday. He is standing this season at Kelvinisde at a fee of $110,000 inc. GST.
