Back to back Wagga Cups for the Darley Stallions

Commands gelding Voice Commander records his fourth Stakes win with victory in the Listed Wagga Cup

A winner of the Listed Frank Underwood Cup back in January of this year, Commands gelding Voice Commander was aided by an excellent ride to hold off the late challenge of runner-up World Wide to take out the Listed Wagga Gold Cup on May 6.

Won last year by Lonhro gelding Sainthood, who incidentally lines up in the Listed Prime Minister’s Cup on the Gold Coast on May 7, the Nick Olive-trained Voice Commander epitomises the progeny of his highly-successful sire Commands; showing toughness, resilience and longevity.

The winner of 12 of his 41 starts and over $600,000 in prizemoney, Voice Commander is having his best season to date; recording four wins, two at Stakes level.

Out of the Magic Ring mare Voice Mail, Voice Commander was bred by Mr GL Lesnikowski and comes from the family of G1 performers Tristram’s Belle, North Lady, Maharajah and Balmerino.

The sire of ten Stakes winners this season including the G1-winning three-year-old Erewhon, G2 winners Soul and Altar as well as Stakes-winning mares Palomares, She Rules, RoyalCommands, Brasileira and Kanzan, Commands has currently sired more winners this season than any other stallion.

Standing the forthcoming breeding season at Darley’s Kelvinside property at a fee of $66,000 (inc GST), Commands has been a leading top-ten sire for the past consecutive five seasons and is in a prime position to make it six on end.
