Approaching make it three

New Approach gets his third winner from his first southern hemisphere crop

As the sire of last weekend’s G3 Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes winner Montsegur and the impressive Adelaide winner Gamblin’ Guru, New Approach was represented by his third southern hemisphere bred winner, when debutant Approaching scored over 1800m in Japan.

Purchased from the 2012 Inglis Easter yearling sale from the draft of Glastonbury Farm, the colt was giving away maturity to his opponents, mainly northern hemisphere bred three-year-olds, but proved a class above, winning the event by three lengths. Out of the Stravinsky mare Lute, a half-sister to the G1 winner Foxwood, Approaching comes from the family of noted stayers Gunners Lane, Sovereigns Red and Trichelle.

Bred by Stud Consultants Pty Ltd, Lute was bred back to New Approach in the most recent breeding season.

As the sire of the unbeaten G1 winner Dawn Approach as well as a further four Stakes performers, New Approach was all the rage at the recent Inglis Premier yearling sale where his eight yearlings averaged over $162,000 with a top price of $310,000 achieved.
