Lucky number seven
Hardened Wildcat, by Hard Spun, found himself a little farther back than usual during the early going in the Listed Freddy Cappy Capossela Stakes at Aqueduct on March 10 but the three-year-old colt showed a new dimension coming off the pace to win going away. It was the third win in a row for Hardened Wildcat and his first at Stakes level.
Hardened Wildcat is a homebred racing for New Farm who foaled the consistent colt in Kentucky. He is out of G3 Sorority Stakes winner and G1-placed Wild Snitch who has also produced the Stakes winner and multiple Graded-placed Vengeful Wildcat. Hardened Wildcat bested his aforementioned half-brother who ran third in the Freddy Cappy Capossela last year. Wild Snitch also has a 2012 two-year-old by Hard Spun.
Hard Spun was the second leading freshman sire in North America last year with 27 winners, including the G2 winner Red Duke, and other Stakes winners/Graded-placed horses Glinda The Good and Yvete Sangalo.
As we head into the Inglis Easter yearling sale in a few weeks time, Hard Spun will be represented by two fillies, both to be offered by Yarraman Park Stud as agent - lot 290, a half-sister to the recent Stakes winner Soft Sands as well as lot 571, the third foal from the G2 winner Bridie Belle.
