Gamilati, by Darley stallion Bernardini, couldn’t have been more impressive when winning the UAE 1000 Guineas on Friday, February 3. The Frankie Dettori mount settled back in last position, approached the field during the turn, and stormed home in an effortless move. It was the third win for last year’s G2 Cherry Hinton winner.
Her options are open now with a possible run in the UAE Oaks and considerations for the English 1000 Guineas.
The winner was bred by Darley and is owned by Godolphin. Gamilati is out of the G3 winner and G1-placed mare Illustrious Miss, a daughter of Kingmambo. The dam of the winner produced a 2010 colt by New Approach and is in-foal to another Darley stallion in Shamardal.
Bernardini is now the sire of eight Graded/Group winners and eight G1 horses. He was recently represented by another Graded winner when the unbeaten Algorithms extended his streak of wins taking the G3 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
Bernardini will be represented by four yearlings at the forthcoming Perth Magic Millions yearling sale highlighted by lot 64, a grey colt out of the G2 Karrakatta Plate winner Born Priceless. A half-sister to the G3 performed Exceed And Excel colt Born To Excel, this colt is sure to be well-received. Just over a week after the completion of the Perth Sale, Bernardini will be represented by seven yearlings at the Inglis Premier yearling sale, with a possible standout being lot 89, the Mill Park-consigned half-brother to dual G1 winner Divine Madonna.
