Reset’s high-class daughter Cassini is racing in great heart and she added a first G3 win to her record when proving too good for her rivals in Saturday’s G3 Manawatu Cup (2300m) at Awapuni on December 17. Cassini came on strong in the straight to defeat Tullaroan and Crocodile Canyon by a length-and-a-quater.
This is the fifth win for Cassini, who swooped late to take the Listed Wanganui Cup over 2040m on November 26 at her last start. Cassini is headed towards the G2 City Of Auckland Cup over 2400m at Ellerslie on January 1, a race she finished second in last season.
Cassini is one of 15 Stakes winners for her unbeaten G1-winning sire Reset, also the sire this season of the G1 W S Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker.
Bred by D Dean, Cassini is out of Mathematical, a granddaughter of Danzig, and a half-sister to G2 Sir Tristram Fillies Classic winner Centrofold and her granddam True Devotion, the winner of the G1 West Australia Oaks in 1984. Mathematical has a 2011 colt by Darley's G1-winning son of Distorted Humor in Any Given Saturday.
Reset stands at Darley Northwood Park where his fee in 2011 is set at $16,500 (inc GST).
