Darley first-season sire Exceed And Excel sired three European winners this weekend when Spin Cycle and Golden Rosie proved victorious on Saturday and Excellerator made a winning debut on Sunday.
Facing a good field including three previous winners, Spin Cycle was sent off favourite to confirm the promise he had shown when victorious at Hamilton Park in a very quick time. This race resulted in him being rated by Timeform as their third best two-year-old in Great Britain and Ireland.
Soon tracking the leaders, he always looked to be travelling comfortably and he did not let his backers down, running on to win a shade cosily by a neck.
He is the third foal out of Spinning World mare, Spinamix, with her previous two offspring, Codeword and San Sicharia, both being Stakes horses. It probably won’t be long before Spin Cycle joins them.
Golden Rosie gained her first victory at Doncaster running out a ready winner of their Maiden Fillies’ Stakes. Always travelling well at the front of the field, she ran on well to the line to win by three-quarters-of-a-length.
Bred by Yeomanstown Stud, she is the third foal of Stakes placed mare Kelsey Rose and from the family of Stakes winning two-year-olds, Indian Rocket and The Bonus King.
On Sunday at Southwell, Excellerator made his debut a winning one. Well backed throughout the day, he was sent off favourite and he certainly knew his job, running out an easy three-length winner.
He is a half-brother to three winners including useful two-year-old Go Bananas and from the family of top class racehorse and sire, Efisio.
Exceed And Excel has now sired five winners of six races from his first European crop.
