Demand for progeny of Darley stallions has been high on the first two days of the Magic Millions sale with none more so than Commands, who sold 10 of his 12 lots offered at an average of $146,500.
Lot 339 saw Commands top price so far when Ricky Yiu paid $340,000 for the Raheen Stud consigned colt, a full-brother to War Of The Worlds (racing in Hong Kong as Royal Delight), winner of last season's G3 Premier Bowl Handicap.
Newhaven Park Stud consigned lot 287, a brown filly who is the first foal out of the Listed winning mare, Blizzardly and Star Thoroughbreds had to go to $215,000 to secure her.
Singapore looks to be the destination for lot 223 who was knocked down for $200,000. Consigned by Willow Park Stud, this bay colt is out of the New Zealand bred mare Acupuncture, who was second in the G2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes.
All told, Commands has had six lots top the $100,000 mark at an average of $146,500 which compares very favourably to their $33,000 conceived fee.
Another Darley stallion to figure prominently on the first two days was Elusive Quality, who sold all five lots offered including lot 246 whose destination is Hong Kong after their Jockey Club paid $320,000 to secure him. Consigned by Edinglassie Stud he is a full-brother to Pewsey Vale Stakes winner, Listen Here and from the family of Danewin and Commands.
Earlier in the day, Beh Chin Pheng paid $250,000 for lot 202, an Elusive Quality half-brother to G2 Schweppes Stakes winner Lucky Secret and G3 winner Hinting. It looks likely this colt is Malaysia bound.
