Following an excellent first two days which saw Exceed And Excel leading the sires’ averages table, the main session of Inglis’ Premier Yearling Sale finished with Lonhro and Reset also among those sires with yearlings in the top bracket.
Lot 597 (pictured, courtesy of www.inglis.com.au), a colt by Lonhro out of the G3-winning Volksraad mare Pride Of the Class, was the fifth most expensive horse at the sale, selling for $190,000 to BC3 Thoroughbreds from the Toolooganvale Farm Stud draft. Lonhro’s session average for eight yearlings sold was $70,625.
Three Bridges’ Exceed And Excel filly out of Lulworth Cove (In The Wings) and from the family of Kentucky Oaks winner White Star Line became the second highest-priced female in the catalogue when knocked down to Heritage Bloodstock for $165,000. Her sire’s average remained solid throughout with ten yearlings, including the $160,000 colt out of Shaye Spice, changing hands for a healthy $110,500.
Trainer Anthony Cummings went to $160,000 for a son of Reset out of Danavia, a three-quarter sister to Magnus and Wilander. The colt was consigned by Fulmen Park. Dubawi was among the leading first season sires with four yearlings fetching an average of $43,375.
