A brace of two-year-old winners by Exceed And Excel in the last week means that he joins Kheleyf at the head of the two-year-old sires’ table for Europe with six winners apiece.
Above Limits struck at Sandown on 21 May, landing the five-furlong (1000m) maiden on her second start, having been third on debut ten days previously. The filly was bred by Simba Holdings and is a daughter of Cin Isa Luv (Private Account).
Four days later, Ceedwell ran on strongly on debut to land another five-furlong (1000m) contest, this time at Carlisle, by two-and-a-half lengths. Out of Muja Farewell, by Mujtahid, she was bred by Minster Stud and Bickerton Racing.
Exceed And Excel, who was leading first-season sire in Australia last year, finished second in the freshman sires' table by number of winners in the northern hemisphere with 23 of his first crop returning triumphant. Kheleyf, who shuttles to Australia for the first time in 2009 to stand at Kelvinside for a fee of $27,500 (inc. GST), was Europe's top scorer on 30.
