Seventh Street followed the example set by another top-class daughter of Street Cry, Zenyatta, when winning the G1 Apple Blossom Handicap in April and followed up this success with victory in the Go For Wand Stakes at Saratoga on Sunday.
The four-year-old, who was bred by Steve Barberino and races for Godolphin, posted a determined effort having been headed by Spritely in the stretch when running a little wide but battling on to regain the advantage and score by half a length. Seventh Street is out of the Meadowlake mare Holiday Runner and from eight starts, she has won five and placed on the three other occasions.
Street Cry also had a G3 runner-up at Monmouth Park in the form of four-year-old filly Princess Haya, who is out of Sally Slew, by Slew City Slew.
Street Cry is now sire of nine individual Group One winners, including Caulfield Guineas winner Whobegotyou, and has returned to Australia to stand at Kelvinside ($110,000 inc GST) alongside his Kentucky Derby-winning son Street Sense ($38,500 inc GST). Another of his top-level winners, the crack sprinter Street Boss, is standing at Northwood Park in Victoria at a fee of $16,500 (inc GST).
