With the foaling season well under way, another recent foaling for Authorized is a strapping filly (pictured right), out of the multiple Stakes-winning, G1-performing Alquoz mare Nanny Maroon.
A half-sister to the G2 Challenge Stakes winner and Randwick track record holder De Lighting Ridge, as well as the Listed Canonbury Stakes placed Coast To The Post, the filly is pictured here with her dam at only six days of age.
Bred by Mr Charlie Cropper’s Guntawang Stud, Stud Manager Jeff Brasch commented, “She’s a lovely, big strong quality filly, very much in the mould of her half-sister De Lightning Ridge at the same stage.”
So impressed with the quality of the filly at this stage, Cropper has decided to send Nanny Maroon back to Authorized again this season.
Having had two to the races for two winners, Nanny Maroon’s current three-year-old is a Lonhro gelding named Jamaican Warrior and is in the stable of Lonhro’s former trainer John Hawkes.
An extraordinary racetrack performer, Authorized broke his maiden in a G1 as a juvenile and went on to record a five-length Derby win before dominating his older rivals Dylan Thomas, Notnowcato and Duke of Marmalade in the G1 Juddmonte International of his Classic year. From the stallion-making family of Champion sire Green Dancer, Authorized’s pedigree also Includes outstanding three-year-old Dubawi colt Makfi, the winner of this season’s G1 Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville.
Crowned the European Champion three-year-old after his final racing season, Authorized covered an excellent book of mares during his first southern hemisphere season which included G1 and G2 winners My Brilliant Star, Pay My Bail, Almah and Dandify; the dams of G1 winners Shot Of Thunder and Yell; plus the siblings to G1 winners Neroli, Mossman, Mummify, Slight Chance and Rough Habit.
Authorized is currently covering his second book of mares at Darley Kelvinside where he stands at a fee of $27,500 including GST.
