The colt’s win shoots Nadeem to equal leading freshman sire by winners in Australia this season. A Champion two-year-old himself, and nemesis of Golden Slipper winner Miss Finland, Nadeem’s first crop have hit the ground running, headlined by multiple Stakes-winning filly Triple Asset.
Ridden by leading apprentice Jake Noonan, Specter jumped from the outside gate and settled at the tail of the field before launching a barnstorming run in the straight to claim victory on the line.
Purchased for $80,000 at the 2010 Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Specter is out of the Daylami mare Woman In White, a daughter of G1 winner Nicer. Specter’s full-brother made $210,000 at this years’ Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
Standing for a fee of $22,000 this season, Nadeem has all the right ingredients within his pedigree for his progeny to excel as three-year-olds and served a stellar book of mares last season; headlined by Gin Player, the dam of Group 1 winner Zarita.
